UCDC Program

The UCDC Program is an academic internship program providing UCSD students with the opportunity to intern for a quarter in Washington D.C. while enrolling in UC courses and living in the UC Washington Center.

Students who participate in the UCDC program must enroll in the Internship Seminar, AIP 197I, and a Research Seminar. Students may also enroll in an elective if they wish.

How UCDC Courses Count for the Political Science Major

Political Science majors or minors who participate in the UCDC program earn credit for the major or minor with the Research Seminar, POLI 194.

  • The Research Seminar, POLI 194 is allocated to the upper division Elective category of a Political Science major or the Political Science minor, as long as one of the following UCDC courses is completed:
    • UCDC 171C Public Policy
    • UCDC 191C AI Policy and Implications
    • UCDC 173C Urban Politics
    • UCDC 171E Race and Politics
    • UCDC 171A Immigration Law and Policy
    • UCDC 171B International Development
    • UCDC 183E News, Media, & Democracy
    • UCDC 183A U.S. Congress
    • UCDC 183H U.S. Supreme Court
    • UCDC 183B U.S. Presidency
  • The Internship Seminar, AIP 197DC, does not fulfill major or minor requirements.

Please note: a total maximum of six courses may be transferred and applied toward the major. This applies to courses from community college, AP exam(s), study abroad courses from Education Abroad Program (EAP) or the Opportunities Abroad Program (OAP), courses taken while participating in UCDC and UCCS programs, and students who take political science courses at another 4-year university (including UCs).
